A Major Milestone: Redding Tai Chi Meditation Garden Agreement Signed

After years of planning, fundraising, and perseverance, we are delighted to announce that Redding Tai Chi Meditation Garden and the City of Redding have formally signed an agreement to build our project at Enterprise Park.

This is an important milestone for a project that has been many years in the making. Last year, after learning that we could no longer build at our originally proposed location, we faced the difficult task of finding a new site. Rather than give up on our vision, our Board of Directors continued working to find a suitable alternative where the Garden could become a lasting resource for the community.

Our efforts led us to Enterprise Park, near the Kid’s Kingdom playground. On February 11, 2026, our Board presented the proposal to the Redding Community Services Advisory Committee, which responded positively. The City subsequently approved moving the project forward, and we have now reached the next major milestone: a signed Memorandum of Understanding between the City and Redding Tai Chi Meditation Garden.

A Place for Tai Chi and the Community

The proposed Garden will feature a 60-foot-diameter concrete practice surface incorporating the traditional Tai Chi Tu, or Yin-Yang symbol, surrounded by eight benches for seating and observation.

Its primary purpose is to provide a dedicated space for Tai Chi practice. We also envision a peaceful outdoor setting where individuals and groups can enjoy meditation, gentle movement, and other appropriate low-impact activities.

Redding Tai Chi Meditation Garden will fund the entire construction project without requesting City financial support. The signed agreement establishes the responsibilities of both parties and provides a framework for moving the project toward construction.

The Road Ahead

Although signing the agreement is a significant achievement, several steps remain before construction can begin. These include finalizing construction plans, securing any other necessary approvals, and coordinating the construction schedule with the City.

We are grateful to the City of Redding for working with us to establish a new home for the Garden. We also extend our sincere thanks to our donors, supporters, fellow Tai Chi practitioners, and everyone who has continued to believe in this project through its challenges.

After years of effort, the vision of a Redding Tai Chi Meditation Garden is closer to becoming a reality. We look forward to sharing further updates as we move toward construction.

Thank you for helping make this project possible.
