We had a great turnout for our Saturday cleanup of the area surrounding our future Tai Chi site at Enterprise Park. Since the site is part of a City of Redding park, cleaning up the surrounding area was a way to help make the park more attractive and inviting for everyone.

Fifteen people showed up to lend a hand, including several former Tai Chi students who wanted to reconnect with the project and return to Tai Chi practice.
For many years, the area designated for our future site had been used by the City of Redding as a green waste collection and composting area, with periodic burning during the November and April burn seasons. Unfortunately, it had also become an occasional dumping ground for trash.
As the accumulated green waste was cleared away, much of that debris came to the surface, creating an eyesore in the park. Among the items we collected were pieces of plastic bags, cans, bottles, clothing, a long section of tire tread, insulation blankets that had been buried beneath the green waste, and even irrigation sprinkler heads.

With so many volunteers pitching in, we accomplished quite a bit in less than an hour!
After the cleanup, we gathered for a group photograph, and Redding Tai Chi Meditation Garden Board Member Bill Campbell took the opportunity to show everyone the plans for our future site.

Our goal is to create a place where people can gather, practice Tai Chi, and enjoy a peaceful outdoor setting. Taking care of the surrounding parkland is part of that commitment.
A sincere thank-you to everyone who came out and volunteered their time. Your efforts made a world of difference, and we appreciate your help in making Enterprise Park a cleaner and more welcoming place for the community.
We also thank the City of Redding Parks Department for hauling the trash away.
