Following our recent presentation to the Redding Community Services Advisory Committee (see previous post), we have received encouraging news from the City of Redding. Travis Menne, Director of Community Services, has informed us that he is taking the Community Services Advisory Committee’s recommendation and approving the project to move forward.
This is another significant step in the process, and we are grateful for the continued support and thoughtful consideration from City staff.
As with any public project, there are still important steps ahead. The next phase will involve drafting a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the City of Redding and the Redding Tai Chi Meditation Garden. The MOU will outline responsibilities, timelines, and the framework for moving the project toward construction.
We have been advised that this process will take at least 30 days, and possibly longer. In addition, environmental clearance will be required. City staff will review the site and outline any necessary environmental steps before final approval can be granted.
We also understand that the City is currently working with limited staffing, and the City Attorney’s office is in transition. These realities may affect the timeline. While this means we must continue to practice patience, it does not change the direction — we are moving forward.
There is good news, and there are practical realities. Both are part of building something meaningful and lasting.
We remain encouraged and deeply appreciative of everyone who has supported this vision. Step by step, the project continues to advance.
