Today our Board of Directors appeared before the Redding Community Services Advisory Committee to present our proposal for building the Redding Tai Chi Meditation Garden at Enterprise Park.
Our Board President, Melinda Kashuba, delivered an excellent presentation that clearly outlined the vision of the project and the benefits it would bring to the community. We are proposing a potential site near the Kid’s Kingdom playground. The area is currently used as a collection site for leaves and green waste, which is later disposed of by burning. Transforming this space into a dedicated Tai Chi and meditation area would create an additional opportunity for healthy outdoor activity within the park.
While the primary intention of the project is to provide a space for Tai Chi practitioners, the design would allow other groups and individuals to use the area for quiet exercise, movement practices, and community gatherings.
The Committee members responded positively to our proposal. One member commented that most groups come before them seeking funding, and he was impressed that we had already raised the necessary funds and were offering to build the project without requesting City financial support.
Our next step is to develop a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) that will outline the terms and process for construction in a way that is agreeable to both the City of Redding and the Redding Tai Chi Meditation Garden Board.
We are encouraged by the positive reception and look forward to the next phase of this process.
