Since our last post, in which we shared that the McConnell Arboretum & Gardens location is no longer available, we have been exploring possible next steps for the project. We contacted the City of Redding’s Parks and Recreation Department to see if they could suggest alternative locations for the Tai Chi Meditation Garden.

Two potential sites were discussed: an open area at the end of Bechelli Lane near the Sacramento River, and Enterprise Park, located near the “Kid’s Kingdom” playground. Of the two, the site within Enterprise Park appears to be a very promising alternative.

A location in Enterprise Park would offer several advantages, including easy access, ample parking, lighting, and nearby restrooms. If this site is approved, the project could potentially move forward in 2026. Before that can happen, the architectural plans would need to be redesigned to suit the new location and then reviewed and approved by the City.

We are encouraged by this possibility and remain hopeful that this location will work out for the project.
